


1952 - Theo Cox, pastor. The need for a new
church was recognized and a campaign started to build a new church.
1954 - Vernon Perry,
pastor. An eight acre block of land bordered by Avenue I, Roberts,
Ave. K, and Center St was purchased.
1956 - Phase I of the new church was built at a cost of $250,000 . It was known that additional space would need to be built as funds permitted. This phase consisted of the Fellowship Hall, Kitchen, Parlor, Men & Women restrooms on southeast corner, Classrooms, currently designated as 2A-10B, Sanctuary, Mechanical Room 1, North Exterior Classrooms currently designated as 12, A&B, 2 Restrooms. Classrooms 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, Child’s Restroom, Classrooms 30, 32, Child’s Restroom, Classrooms 34, 36, Child’s Restroom and Classroom 38. Two large stained glass windows from the previous church at Hillje & Fahernthold Streets were moved and installed at the Southwest end of the Sanctuary. Church membership was 701.
1959 - A parsonage was built in the 8 acre block on the corner of Center St. and Avenue K. Pastor Fred Brooks and his wife Pat were the first residents.
1963 - The Official Board set aside $5,000 to begin an expansion fund to enlarge the Church Property. This will be added to periodically from the budget and special gifts. Rooms may be given as memorials and will be designated with a plaque.
1964 - The Official Board requested the Commission on Education to make a survey and study of our building needs.
1966 - Architect Mr. Edward Bodet, who also designed phase I of the building is selected to draw up plans for Phase II.
1968-69 Harold Burkhardt, pastor. Phase II of the Property is constructed. Sunday, May 18, 1969 was the official opening.
1969 - A Carillion is given by Mr. & Mrs. Kinnear Earl in memory of their son Charles who along with other groomsmen was killed in an auto accident the day following his sister’s wedding.
1977 - Russell Raun burned the church note Sunday, January 20th making the church debt free. A kindergarten, forerunner of the present Day Care, was started.
